Jian Ma Dr. Jian Ma, R&D Manager of Nokia (China) R&D Center, has been working at Nokia since 1994. He joined Nokia Research Center Finland in August 1994. Since beginning of 1999 he started a new research group of advanced Internet technologies in Nokia (China) R&D Center. His group's R&D focus are IPv6 protocol development, IP traffic engineering, and Internet security. His main research interests are in the area of IPv6, IP QoS and TCP/IP protocol enhancement. Internet research cooperations with China is another important responsibility of his work. Prior coming to Nokia (1990 - 1994) he worked as a researcher in Telecommunication & Switch Lab, Helsinki University of Technology in Finland.

He has been doing research work in the fields of ATM and IP technologies since 1990. He has hold couple of patents and about 30 patents pending in more than 10 countries, and he also has published more than 50 international publications in the fields of TCP/IP and ATM. He is now also a guest Professor in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

He received his B.Sc. and MS.C respectively in 1982 and 1987 from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. He received his Ph.D. in 1994 from the Department of Electronics Engineering of Helsinki University of Technology.
